Source of Strain: UC Davis
Manufacturing Process:
Produced through a state-of-the-art fermentation process utilizing Glutamic Acid Rod Bacteria and Glycine for regulating intermediate metabolic products. The R&D journey of Dayi Biotech’s 5-ALA began in June 2019, when the company entered into a partnership with UC Davis to integrate high-yield microbial strains and core fermentation technology for the biotechnological production of 5-ALA. In May 2020, Dayi Biotech achieved pilot production of 5-ALA at a level of 25g/L, making it suitable for large-scale production. By September 2021, through the collaboration with UC Davis, metabolic engineering strains producing 5-ALA were developed, achieving a breakthrough in fermentation content reaching 30g/L. In January 2022, Dayi Biotech reached a high of 45g/L, realizing large-scale industrial production.
Technological Innovations:
- Point Mutations: Alleviates feedback inhibition caused by the end product, heme, enhancing 5-ALA synthase activity.
- Upregulation: Potent promoters boost 5-ALA synthase gene transcription to significantly increase 5-ALA production.
- Downstream Enzyme Regulation: Reduces the expression of 5-ALA dehydratase, minimizing metabolic losses.
- Enhanced Extracellular Transport: Specific transporter proteins are expressed to reduce intracellular metabolic losses.
Benefits and Efficacy:
- Promotes Photosynthesis & Growth: Facilitates chlorophyll synthesis, improving photosynthetic efficiency even in low-light conditions, boosting crop growth and enhancing fruit quality.
- Fruit Setting & Color Enhancement: Encourages fruit setting and accelerates the synthesis of anthocyanins, leading to faster color change and uniform fruit coloration.
- Stimulates Seed Germination & Rooting: Enhances root vitality, accelerates seedling growth, delays plant senescence, and boosts crop yield and product quality.
- Optimizes Nutrient Absorption: Increases transpiration pull, enhancing the root system’s efficiency in nutrient absorption, transport, and distribution, improving fertilizer use efficiency.
- Strengthens Stress Resistance: Boosts antioxidant enzyme gene expression, enhancing crops’ resilience against extreme temperatures, drought, salinity, low-light conditions, and nutrient-poor environments.
Application Guidelines:
5-ALA is an ideal product for seedling strengthening, yield boosting, color enhancement, greening, and increasing sweetness in crops.
